AK Gov. Sarah Palin, in an interview on the Christian Broadcasting Network, again emphasizes her stand against same sex unions. Saying that she had voted ten years ago for an Alaskan state amendment banning same sex marriage, McCain's running mate endorsed a Constitutional amendment making marriage a union between a male and a female.
In doing so, Palin broke with McCain, who has opposed such a federal amendment, and instead left it up to state legislatures to enact such bans. McCain is supporting a ban in his home state of Arizona.
Palin said in the interview that she was "tolerant" of gay and lesbians but did not support "gay marriage."
